1999年に第37回現代詩手帖賞受賞。個人詩集に『片鱗篇』(思潮社・新しい詩人シリーズ)、『まどろみの島』(思潮社、第63回H氏賞受賞)、『耳の笹舟』(思潮社、第54回藤村記念歴程賞受賞)、『Asian Dream』(思潮社)、『長篇詩 流雪孤詩』(思潮社)。
日本現代詩人会会員。詩とアートをめぐるテレビ番組「Edge」に出演後、同番組のイベント・ディレクターを務める。
2014年、小説家古川日出男、詩人・比較文学者管啓次郎らとともに欧州5都市で東日本大震災を語る朗読ツアー「見えない波」に参加。 これまでにスロベニアの国際詩祭「Dnevi Poezie in Vina 2014」(Days of Poetry and Wine )をはじめ、フランス、オランダ、クロアチア、スイス、イギリス、アメリカなどから招聘。
2017年、韓国の平昌五輪前夜祭「平昌韓中日詩人祝祭」に招かれる。2018年、第68回H氏賞選考委員。2024年、第42回日本現代詩人賞選考委員。
共同詩や連詩も試みており、2013年にkindle共同詩集『遠いアトラス』(マイナビ)、2016年に連詩集『地形と気象』(左右社)を上梓。
2017年6月には東京蔵前の写真ギャラリー「観照空蓮房」で装幀家の奥定泰之をアートディレクターに招き個展「観照空蓮房 石田瑞穂展」が1ヶ月間にわたり開催。
新型コロナ禍の2020年5月に写真家の谷口昌良と写真詩画集『Catch the Emptiness 空を掴め』を上梓、同年11月からは谷口昌良との共同展「Catch the Emptiness 空を掴め」が観照空蓮房で1ヶ月半にわたり開催された。
2016年秋から内外の詩人たちを招き、その講演をデジタルアーカイブ化するプロジェクト「LUNCH POEMS@DOKKYO」(獨協大学外国語学部主催)ディレクターを務めた(2023年12月終了)
2022年に国際ポエトリー / ポイエーシス サイト「Crossing Lines」(共同企画制作Stoopa, Ltd.)のプランナーに就任。
海外のアンソロジー収録に、『Novi svet: Sedem sodobnih japoneskih pesnikov』(2014年、スロヴェニア)、小説家・多和田葉子訳『Eine Raffinierte Grenze Aus Licht 光のたおやかな境界』(2023年、ドイツ)などがあり、過去に韓国、中国、台湾でも収録されている(日本語、アルファベット表記がないため書名を掲載できず)。

Ishida studied modern and contemporary American poetry at the Shigeyoshi Hara Seminar at Dokkyo University's Faculty of Foreign Languages. He completed a master's program at Aoyama Gakuin University and a doctoral program in philosophy at the Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University. In 1999, Ishida received the 37th Gendaishi Techo Prize. Ishida has published his poetry collections such as “Segments-Kakerahen”, “Sleepy Islands”, ” Ear, Bamboo Leaf Boat”, “Asian Dream”, and “Solitariness of Drifted Snow”. After appearing on ”Edge”, a poetry and art TV program supervised by the poet Shuri Kido, Ishida worked as an event director for the program. In 2014, Ishida attended the international poetry/novel reading project, “the Invisible Wave”. With a Japanese novelist Hideo Furukawa, and a poet Keijiro Suga, he toured five cities of France and England. Ishida has been invited to the international poetry festival "Dnevi Poezie in Vina 2014" in Slovenia, as well as to France, the Netherlands, Croatia, Switzerland, the UK, and the U.S. In 2017, he was invited to the "PyeongChang Korea-China-Japan Poet Festival" on the eve of the PyeongChang Olympic Games in Korea. In recent years, Ishida has been experimenting with collaborative poems and renshi, and published the collaborative poem collection "Faraway Atlas" on Kindle in 2013 as well as the collection of linked poems "Landforms & Climates" in 2016. Since the fall of 2016, Ishida has been the director of “LUNCH POEMS@DOKKYO” (organized by the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Dokkyo University), a project that invites poets from Japan and abroad and digitally archives their talks. In June 2017, he invited a bookbinding artist, Yasuyuki Okusada, as an art director for his one-month solo exhibition "KANSHO KURENBOH: Mizuho Ishida" at the photo gallery "KANSHO KURENBOH" in Kuramae, Tokyo. Ishida was a member of the selection committee for the 68th Mr. H Award in 2018. In May 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ishida published a book of photographs and poems with a photographer, Akiyoshi Taniguchi, titled "Catch the Emptiness”. In November of the same year, a joint exhibition with Akiyoshi Taniguchi, "Catch the Emptiness" was held for one and a half months at KANSHO KURENBOH. In 2022, Ishida opened the international poetry website "Crossing Lines" (co-planned and produced by Stoopa, Ltd.) and became its planner.
